Jacob Hubers at White Owl Books“The SBDC has been a great resource for developing business strategies and getting feedback on ideas, especially as a solo entrepreneur. They have great connections in the community and great recommendations for building your network!”

Stack of rare booksJacob Hubers started selling antiquarian books online in 2020. Seeing an interest in the community, he decided to expand his online rare book business to a store front in Historic Downtown Pocatello in 2024. He specializes in vintage, antiquarian, and rare books and welcomes offers to purchase local collections. He makes 20% of his sales from his retail location, and that goes much higher during holidays.

Ann and Claudia at the SBDC helped Jacob with strategy and marketing. That included a trip to the Rocky Mountain Book and Paper fair in Denver this year. His sales have increased nearly 40% in 2025. Along with running his book business, he is working toward his M.B.A. and is also in the last stages of a Ph.D. in experimental psychology at ISU.
