Designing for the future
“The SBDC provided the room and flexibility to allow us to start and grow.”
Slant 3D was born out of the design company, Slant Concepts. In 2017, Slant Concepts had created a series of products that required 3D Printing. While building
initial printing capacity for those products, Gabe Bentz, Founder, found that 3D printing was economical for large scale manufacturing. Soon after, Gabe spun-off
Slant 3D as a high volume 3D printing service. Bentz heard about the Idaho SBDC through answering an ad on Craigslist. He was interested in the space available at the Nampa Business Accelerator. A place he knew he could run and expand his business. Gabe meets regularly with the onsite SBDC consultant to help with the challenges of running a growing business. Slant 3D continues to grow with the support of the SBDC. Since founding the business, Slant 3D has grown 50-80% each year. Bentz anticipates that rate to increase over the next several years. Slant 3D will open branch factories and key fulfillment hubs as well as continue to scale the size of the primary factory in Boise, Idaho. Gabe’s advice to business owners: “If it isn’t painful, you are not doing it right.”
