As a native of Denmark, KD Nygaard sped through two MBA programs with the highest honors en route to work for major corporations and innovating his own products. In 2010, KD founded The Career Index Corp. (TCI) with the mission of providing occupational information systems geared towards vocational rehabilitation.

TCI’s flagship product, SARA, Semi-Automatous Research Assistant, launched in 2012. SARA uses artificial intelligence to tackle time consuming paperwork
required for agency compliance. SARA has been implemented by more than 40 customers in 11 states. Nygaard anticipates that millions of Americans will come to
know SARA within the next few years. The fast growth of SARA has made it hard for Nygaard to see the big picture.

The Idaho SBDC became an intricate part of KD’s business success through his meetings with his SBDC consultant. “We were growing fast with a big mission, and
limited resources. I felt we needed an outside person to review our business model and plan,” stated Nygaard. “Our consultant was able to help me think about new
ideas and “homework” for contemplation. He has been an essential part of our success,” concluded Nygaard.
