About the State Star Award – Idaho SBDC
In 2023, America’s SBDC Centers from across the entire US embodied the mission to serve small businesses through another nebulous year. The State Star is a team nominated service award, recognizing a team member who demonstrates the Idaho SBDC Core Values of Service, Respect, Discovery, and Perseverance. The embodiment of these values is what makes the network a high performing, high service, team oriented organization. In the State Star, we see those in the Idaho SBDC who serve as our guiding light, leading the way and setting the precedent for excellence in not only small business development, but all of Idaho.
Introduction to Our 2023 State Star Award Winner
In 2024 we collectively gathered as a network from all over the state to recognize the 2023 year’s State Star Nominations, as these nominees’ stand as a reflection of the incredible talent and dedication that it takes in order to better serve the people of the great state of Idaho. These nominees embrace and embody the core values of the network while infusing their own unique expertise and enthusiasm at every turn. Among the many exceptional candidates this year, it was a tough decision, but we are delighted to announce Margaret Bushee as the recipient of the State Star Award for 2023. Given the high standards, strict guidelines, and healthy competition associated with this award, it’s no surprise that Margaret was chosen from nominations across the state. Her inherent leadership, compassion, and relentless dedication make her truly deserving of this recognition.
Margaret Bushee
Over the past four years with the Idaho SBDC network, Margaret has consistently risen to the occasion for her colleagues, addressing their specific needs and going above and beyond to provide answers and support to the best of her ability. Aspects like Margaret’s leadership at the PDC conference and her dedication to mentoring student interns truly exemplify her commitment to innovation. She actively seeks out new technologies and pathways that align with our mission, inspiring those around her to explore and embrace change. Her enthusiasm for tackling new challenges is infectious, and she fosters an environment where everyone feels supported and encouraged to push their own boundaries. Margaret’s ability to listen and empathize makes her not just a leader, but a mentor who genuinely cares about the growth and success of Idaho SBDC.
“Margaret juggles many responsibilities from managing projects, mentoring our student interns, creating innovative ways to educate our network, and even submitting our travel. It seems as if Margaret is always having a new task to add to the balls she is juggling. Through all of this she manages to keep all of her varied tasks afloat and progressing. If you want something done ask Margaret.”
“Margaret is amazing at holding the SBDC regions together and holding us accountable with polite reminders, encouraging emails when we’re discouraged, answering the same questions from all of us yet again, keeping us on track when we travel (or stray). Keeping us focused on how incredible we all can be when we try.”
