Doug joined the Idaho SBDC as Region III Director in 2015. Prior to joining the Idaho SBDC, Doug served as an executive for a cloud-based software company where he directed a cross-function team on strategic initiatives targeted to improve the customer experience. For 12 years he was CEO for an education service provider where he restructured the company while creating top line growth and reducing expenses. He held business management positions with the nation’s largest outdoor retailer for 10 years and has consulted with existing and start-up businesses.Expand
He co-founded the Kids at Hope Association and established a joint partnership with the Kids at Hope Organization by creating the first Kids at Hope Academy for school-aged youth. He is a volunteer for EF Education First, which provides life-changing education for global citizens. Doug graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Science Degree and Colorado State University with a Master of Science Degree. He grew up in Arizona, migrated to cooler climates throughout the West and fortunate enough to call Boise, Idaho home with his wife, three children and occasional exchange student.
Kim has worked at the Idaho SBDC offering administrative support since 1998 and managing the training program since 2002. Over the years, she has taught classes on a variety of business and technology topics as well as coordinating instructors for the SBDC’s training program. Recently, she became an associate business consultant specializing in graphic/web design as well as social media marketing. She is one of two certified HP LIFE (Learning Initiative For Entrepreneurs) instructors. She holds a B.A. in Graphic Design from Boise State University.
Senior Business Consultant
Debbie joined the Idaho SBDC in February 2008. Her prior work experience includes the role of Business Improvement Consultant with Boise Business Consulting, a family owned business. Prior to working in the family business, Debbie was Senior Vice President and Manager of National Consumer Training and Associate Development for Bank of America.Expand
In addition, Debbie was Vice President and Manager of Business Banking for First Republic Bank, and Vice President and Portfolio Manager, Commercial Banking Group, for First Republic Bank (a predecessor of Bank of America). Debbie is a graduate of the University of Texas, Austin, with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance.
Steve Miller is a seasoned marketing professional with proven success in the development of hardware, software, services and infrastructure for a Fortune 100 global technology company. He is recognized for possessing a high level of general business sense and common sense which have contributed to the development of effective strategies and solutions that impact the bottom line.Expand
Steve received his BS in Business from the University of Montana and his MBA from Boise State University. He spent seven years in the banking industry and the last 22 years at HP here in Boise. He even spent time on the Valdez Oil Spill, which provided a rich environment for crazy, exciting adventure. After many years in the workforce, Steve left the corporate scene and has joined the SBDC on his journey to discover his new calling.
Steve moved to Boise in 1985 from Kalispell, MT. He and his wife have two children, a couple of dogs, a cat and an ongoing discussion about how crowded their landscaping should be. He enjoys living in Idaho as that allows him to pursue his passion for hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
John has extensive experience at the executive level with the Heinz Company, as CEO and COO of six affiliates ranging in sales from $10 million to $1 billion. Extensive hands-on and consulting experience with business start-ups, planning, development, cost improvement, quality management, operations and acquisitions. John has an MBA degree with a concentration in Finance.
Entrepreneur Initiatives Manager
Will Fowler joined the Idaho Small Business Development Center as the Regional Entrepreneur Initiatives Manager, in January of 2016. Will has both operational and leadership experience working inside startups in roles specializing in marketing, business development and operations. Prior to joining the Idaho SBDC, Will spent five years working with Boise Angle Alliance, and is still active with Loon Creek Capital Group, which has been instrumental in forming and administering Boise's only Angel Funds that have invested over $11.8 million in promising local startups.Expand
Through his work helping entrepreneurs scale their businesses, Will has picked up a specialty in using the Business Model Canvas combined with elements of the Lean Startup approach to craft intensive, action-based programs.
Will holds a B.A. from the College of Idaho, a M.F.A. from the University of Missouri – Kansas City, and a M.B.A. from Northwest Nazarene University.
In his free time you can catch Will on the ski slopes, traveling, reading the latest/greatest fiction or business books (not mutually exclusive), or making a fool out of himself to get smiles out of his wife and kids.
Shaunda is a small business enthusiast, currently pursuing a degree in business and eventually a small business of her own.Expand
Shaunda has experience working for both large and small businesses, as well as within the State of Idaho and the US military. Shaunda is an energetic and enthusiastic individual constantly seeking new challenges.
As the “Building Queen” of the Nampa Business Accelerator, Marissa wears many hats while keeping the 38,000 square foot facility standing. She helps our acceleration clients get moved in, she addresses all facility issues and requests and keeps the phones and networks running like clockwork.Expand
She handles everything from keys to leaks in the roof.
Before joining the SBDC, she worked at Hewlett Packard testing (or breaking) printers for quality assurance. At home she is a full-time dance, soccer, and basketball mom who loves to spend time with her family.
