Madison Carriage Cove Rehabilitation
Madison Carriage Cove Rehabilitation Center is a $9 million, state-of-the-art rehabilitation and assisted-living center located in Rexburg, Idaho. Construction on the facility was completed in 2014. The center utilizes skilled nursing staff to provide physical, speech, and occupational rehabilitation services, with a primary focus on short stay medical rehabilitation (patients under 100 days).
Before Madison Carriage Cove, most rehab patients had to transfer out of the area and away from home. Madison Carriage Cove allows patients to stay locally and receive the rehabilitation services they need.
Owner Dave Thueson initially acquired three assisted-living centers with a loan from the Small Business Administration (SBA). This loan, along with his business philosophy of hiring the right people, with the right attitudes and giving them the right training, allowed Dave’s businesses to thrive.
One of his biggest initial struggles was overcoming the bad reputation and stigma attached to nursing homes. Dave put a major focus on marketing and worked with a student team from the ISU College of Business. “The SBDC helped us become aware of many resources and (linked) our business with the ISU student team who assisted with developing marketing and financial plans.”
With this string of successes, Dave partnered with Madison Memorial Hospital in making Madison Carriage Cove a reality. It has the ambiance of a first-class health resort including: a concierge, room service, and first-class dining and employs over 150 staff.
