Skip and Melissa Meyer
Skip and Melissa Meyer own HighPoint Medical in Coeur d’Alene. They offer quality practice management to local and national medical providers focusing on practice management & billing, software implementation & training, and IT support & hosting.
As president of HighPoint Medical, Skip brings more than 20 years of experience in business ownership, leadership training, and team development in both the sales and medical industry. Skip and Melissa have owned and operated several successful medical/aesthetic clinics. They were also the national directors of franchise development for a large medical/aesthetic company.
HighPoint Medical’s long list of satisfied customers includes single providers, multiple provider clinics, individual surgeons, surgeon teams, and small to medium sized hospitals. “Customer service and sincere concern for our client’s success has been vital in our business. If our clients aren’t successful…neither are we. In fact our growth has been nearly 100% based on referrals from satisfied existing clients,” states Skip.
Skip notes a case in which they received a call from a clinic that had fallen behind on receivables. That same afternoon one of their key billing staff responded by going to the clinic in person. The clinic manager and the doctor were overjoyed that a “live” person was there to help and guide them through some valuable training.
The Meyers consider it an honor to engage in and build relationships with medical providers. In discussions with providers, it became very apparent there was a huge need for quality practice management. “There are numerous companies out there that offer one or two practice management services, but it’s almost impossible to find a company focused on all three of the client services we offer,” says Skip.
Skip and Melissa wanted to cultivate a culture where people were valued. Their first priority was to find team members who would share their values and treat clients as they would. Skip and Melissa make it quite clear they value the input, creativity, and participation from all HighPoint Medical staff.
Although they had owned and operated companies before, the Meyers had not had much business or leadership training. Therefore, they enrolled in a year long “Entrepreneurial Leadership Training” course taught by Bill Jhung, Director of the Post Falls Idaho SBDC. Bill coached them on things like managing your team, financial analysis for decision making, hiring the right workforce, creating a culture of innovation and ethics, essentials of leadership, and other business issues. This experience added an element of business savvy that helped take their company to a completely new level.
HighPoint Medical also believes in hands-on training and participates in an internship program with North Idaho College. The internship allows students taking classes in the medical software field to learn the practical side of running a medical practice.
So what do Skip and Melissa believe is ultimately the key to a successful business? They state it simply in just a few words: invest in strong relationships and empower the growth of your team. With 16 members on their team and growing, Skip and Melissa are extremely optimistic about the future of their company.
