Doug Covey

Regional Director

Doug joined the Idaho SBDC as Region III Director in 2015. Prior to joining the Idaho SBDC, Doug served as an executive for a cloud-based software company where he directed a cross-function team on strategic initiatives targeted to improve the customer experience. For 12 years he was CEO for an education service provider where he restructured the company while creating top line growth and reducing expenses. He held business management positions with the nation’s largest outdoor retailer for 10 years and has consulted with existing and start-up businesses.

He co-founded the Kids at Hope Association and established a joint partnership with the Kids at Hope Organization by creating the first Kids at Hope Academy for school-aged youth. He is a volunteer for EF Education First, which provides life-changing education for global citizens. Doug graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Science Degree and Colorado State University with a Master of Science Degree. He grew up in Arizona, migrated to cooler climates throughout the West and fortunate enough to call Boise, Idaho home with his wife, three children and occasional exchange student.

John Glerum

Lead Consultant: Nampa Business Accelerator

John has a great background to provide you guidance, coaching and connections.  Most recently, he was the Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Business Development with the Standlee Group in Eden, Idaho.  Prior to that he was Director of the TECenter and Coordinator for the Governor’s Idaho Science and Technology Advisory Council.  John has decades of varied and progressive leadership and management experience with various sized companies in both growth and entrepreneurial roles and responsibilities.  He has had major corporate experience at the executive level with the H. J. Heinz Company, as President and CEO of Ore-Ida Foods and six other affiliates ranging in sales from $10 million to $1 billion. John has an MBA degree with a concentration in Finance and a B.S. degree in Business Administration and Biological Sciences.

Steve Miller

Lead Consultant: Boise Business Accelerator

Steve Miller is a seasoned marketing professional with proven success in the development of hardware, software, services and infrastructure for a Fortune 100 global technology company. He is recognized for possessing a high level of general business sense and common sense which have contributed to the development of effective strategies and solutions that impact the bottom line.

Steve received his BS in Business from the University of Montana and his MBA from Boise State University. He spent seven years in the banking industry and the last 22 years at HP here in Boise. He even spent time on the Valdez Oil Spill, which provided a rich environment for crazy, exciting adventure. After many years in the workforce, Steve has decided it is time for a break from the corporate scene and is on a journey to discover his new calling.

Steve moved to Boise in 1985 from Kalispell, MT. He and his wife have two children, a couple of dogs, a cat and an ongoing discussion about how crowded their landscaping should be. He enjoys living in Idaho as that allows him to pursue his passion for hunting, fishing and the outdoors.

Will Fowler

Entrepreneur Initiatives Manager

Will Fowler is the Entrepreneur Initiatives Manager for the Idaho SBDC Region III (Boise area). His primary role is to develop programs that assist in the development of entrepreneurs and finding effective ways in which to deliver those programs. Will is an Idaho native who is deeply involved in the Boise startup economy. He’s spent the last five years working with Boise Angel Alliance, serving as everything from an intern to Chair of the Screening Committee for the Treasure Valley Angel Fund. He also works with Loon Creek Capital Group, which has been instrumental in forming and administering Boise’s only Angel Funds that have invested over $11.8 million in promising local startups. Will has both operational and leadership experience working inside startups in roles varying specializing in marketing & business development, and operations. Before re-joining the SBDC in his current role, Will was instrumental in developing acceleration programs at the TECenter, Idaho’s leading startup accelerator. Through his work helping entrepreneurs scale their businesses, Will has picked up a specialty in using the Business Model Canvas combined with elements of the Lean Startup approach to craft intensive, action-based programs. He’s thrilled to be part of a talented and dynamic team that is dedicated to helping Idaho businesses succeed.

Will holds a B.A. from the College of Idaho, an M.F.A. from the University of Missouri – Kansas City, and an M.B.A. from Northwest Nazarene University.

Marissa Goff

Business Accelerator Building Manager

As the “Building Queen” of the Nampa Business Accelerator, Marissa wears many hats while keeping the 38,000 square foot facility standing. She helps our acceleration clients get moved in, she addresses all facility issues and requests and keeps the phones and networks running like clockwork. She handles everything from keys to leaks in the roof.

Before coming to the SBDC, she worked at Hewlett Packard testing (or breaking) printers for quality assurance. At home she is a full-time dance, soccer, and basketball mom who loves to spend time with her family.

Shaunda Gates

Regional Administrative Assistant

Shaunda is a small business enthusiast, currently pursuing a degree in business and eventually a small business of her own. Shaunda has experience working for both large and small businesses, as well as within the State of Idaho and the US military. Shaunda is an energetic and enthusiastic individual constantly seeking new challenges to overcome.
